The purpose of the books is to analyse geometric patterns and show how to reproduce them on squared or isometric paper in order to be able to use the patterns in creative work such as needlework, patchwork, pattern-making, painting, drawing, marquetry, mosaic and a multitude of other crafts.

The books are illustrated by many photographs in colour and black and white (Geometric Patterns from Patchwork Quilts is all in colour) as well as the drawings. All contain 64 pages and are A5 in size.


Using a mixture of photographs and drawings, this book traces the history of the maze through many of its forms from ancient times until the present day. It has a section on mosaic Roman Labyrinths and ends with a survey of the work of some modern maze makers including five in mosaic by Elaine M. Goodwin, illustrated in colour.
